The most limited commodity we have is time. When we deduct the time for sleep, time for eating, time for family, time for friends, time for ourselves, and the time from getting from here to there, there is barely 8 hours in a day to work.
Managing time begins with being clearly focused on your objectives. We all have multiple objectives, so they really must be clear to us. First, we have to take care of ourselves. We have to get enough good sleep, eat right in a nice peaceful environment unrushed, exercise a little, have some quiet time and have time for ourselves to do something we enjoying doing. Then for many there is a spouse or partner, children, family and friends. And for many there is the church and community service. Once all of this has been addressed properly to provide you with satisfaction and peace of mind, then there is the career.
Creating an action plan and calendaring your plan create the major tool that you will use as your guide for maximizing your time to achieve your objectives and priorities. So the calendar begins with the personal priorities. Begin here, get out a calendar and fill in the time you are going to allocate to these personal priorities for the next month. You will see, while you will fill a lot of time you will also begin to feel that there can be order and calm where maybe there was chaos.
