When you read that the 6 top job markets over the next 5 years are going to be Texas, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, North Dakota and Utah, you have to stop and think. These job markets are driven by business growth that has already achieved some momentum. There are still great deals in low priced homes in each market and sometimes a fresh mind to a market can bring better results than the existing players in the market. Is it time to think about moving?
The cost of living in all these markets is far less than it is in California. You can buy a lower priced home with more equity in it, providing more security and more stability, lowering your monthly income needs, giving you time to build your business. Food, clothing, schools, social life all cost less and the Arizona State University and University of Arizona are highly ranked Universities amongst the World's Best Universities Web Ranking. The University of Arizona in Tucson is ranked 71 Arizona State University in Tempe ranked 84, The University of Texas in Austin ranked 2, behind MIT and the cost of these schools for state residence are amongst the best in the nation.
A changing marketplace requires change. Relocating and learning a market that will have a bigger and stronger uptick over the next five years may just be the smart thing to consider. You won't get the California weather, but after that, everything else might be a big improvement including the social environment for you and your family. For sure, there are less stresses in these states and stronger family values. I know because my dearest friend lived in North Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Austin Texas, Marina Del Rey, Santa Monica and now Scottsdale AZ and he tells me that California is beautiful and expensive. He left Beverly Hills to raise his children in Austin Texas. He says that was the smartest thing he and his wife ever did. All you have to do he said is ask his children. They are so grateful that they have their values and experiences vs. those of their California friends.
A lot to think about.
