There are disciplines that are absolute MUSTS to be successful in business. Disciplines are even more critical for people like you and me who interact with people all day and need to be able to MANAGE OUR TIME based upon OUR PRIORITIES and not upon the priorities of others. This is not so easy when your phone keeps delivering text messages, people keep calling and your in-box on your email account is overflowing with messages all day long. How can you provide great service and provide your clients with what they need when they need it if you cannot establish your own priorities?
It is January 18. You should be taking stock on where you stand with your January goals. You are half way through the month. How are you doing? Have you accomplished enough thus far? Will you be able to meet your goals for the month in the next two weeks? Are your January Goals clearly in sight?
You made a plan for January. How has your plan worked? Knowing what you know now, what would you have done differently? How will what you have learned alter your February plan? Do you have to alter your plan to meet your January Goals to achieve your Goals by the end of the month?
So here is what you have to do today:
Review your January goals. Note which goals you still need to achieve. Determine what goals will not be met and need to become part of your February Goals
Review your January plan. See what has worked well the first two weeks of the month and what has not worked well.
Update your plan for January for the last two weeks to increase the odds for meeting your January goals.
Move forward with your January plan to achieve your remaining January goals.
Review your 90 day goals. Are they still okay? Do your 90 day goals need to be updated based upon things you have learned during the first two weeks of January? Reconfirm or update your 90 days goals and your goals for January, February and March. Now with clear goals, what is your plan?
Update your plan for February and March so you can feel confident about meeting your 90-day goals.
How would you rank your use of time during the first two weeks of January? Have you been able to manage your traffic (emails, phone calls, text messages, meetings, time with clients)? If improvement is needed how can you improve the way you handle your traffic so you are in more control of your time? Go back and look at our blogs on time management, we give you specific steps you can take to make that happen.
HAVING CLEAR GOALS WITH PLANS TO MEET THOSE GOALS IS HOW SUCCESS HAPPENS. MONITORING YOUR PERFORMANCE WITH CONSISTENCY AND MAKING COURSE CORRECTIONS AS NEEDED IS HOW SUCCESS HAPPENS.
I hope you have the joy of meeting your January Goals and you are excited by your plan for the First Quarter of 2012. You are walking on your road map to success, may the journey be rewarding.
